Information about the LIS System
The link you clicked on takes you out of the Department of Planning and Budget's website and to the Legislative Information System. This legislative website contains current and historical information about each budget. As a budget is under consideration by the General Assembly it is referred to as the proposed budget or The Budget Bill. After it is passed it is called The Appropriation Act and later receives an official chapter number. Example: Chapter 889, 2002 Acts of Assembly.
After you continue to the LIS website you can use the search form to find what you are interested in. Look for the Table of Contents link if you would prefer to browse down through the various sections of the bill.
You can see our Frequently Asked Questions page to learn more about how Virginia's budget is adopted. There is a flow chart showing the phases where the different branches of Government work to create the budget.
